Care and maintenance - extend the lifespan of your chair
The Capisco is a chair for life. It accompanies you throughout your workday, often for decades. Depending on your remaining career, this can easily add up to 40,000 to 80,000 hours, most of which we spend sitting. Hardly any other everyday object is used as intensively as your Capisco.
Although the manufacturer offers a long 10-year warranty, with proper care you can significantly extend the lifespan of your chair. To ensure it always stays in top condition, we've compiled a few tips for you.
General cleaning of upholstery
The fabrics used in the Capisco are deliberately chosen for their ease of care and high abrasion resistance. Even with minimal care, the covers usually still look good after many years. However, specific recommendations vary depending on the fabric type.
Wool
Wool is antistatic and therefore attracts less dust and dirt. It is also water-repellent, so stains don't immediately penetrate the fabric. Gentle vacuuming once a week is usually perfectly sufficient.
Please avoid steam cleaners or high temperatures, as the fabric may shrink. Machine washing is also not recommended.
If a stain does occur, the faster you act, the better. Here's what to do:
- Immediately dab up any liquids with a cloth.
- For dried-on stains, first remove as much as possible with a vacuum cleaner.
- Gently wipe with a clean, white cloth.
- Use distilled water without detergent for final cleaning.
It's possible that the cleaned area will appear slightly darker than the rest. This is normal and will become less noticeable over time.
Polyester
Polyester should also be vacuumed regularly. The big advantage: polyester covers can easily be washed at up to 60°C – by hand or in the washing machine. Use a pH-neutral detergent without bleach (pH = 7).
Please note that the fabric may shrink by up to 5%. Therefore, it's best to put the covers back on the cushions while they are still slightly damp.

Leather
To ensure that the natural leather of the Capisco retains its soft feel and elegant appearance, it requires regular care. Leather is similar to our skin: it can dry out, fade, or get dirty, but it does not regenerate itself.
We recommend special cleaning and care kits that allow you to gently clean, condition, and waterproof the leather. This will keep it supple and protected for longer.
Gas cylinder maintenance
New Capisco chairs come with a lubricated gas spring that allows for smooth raising and lowering. However, if the seat height is not adjusted for many years, the gas spring can become stiff.
In this case, it can be cleaned and relubricated with a soap-based grease:

A special tool is required to replace the gas spring, which you can purchase from us:

Clean or replace castors
The Capisco's castors are very robust, but over time they can accumulate hair and dirt that impairs their function. First, check if the dirt between the wheels can be removed. If not – or if a wheel comes loose – you can replace it at any time.
